Book One in the Oregon In Love series.
In a small Oregon community, Sara Andersen finds herself in possession of an old farmhouse in desperate need of renovations. Brian Farris is a builder who is new in town, but intimately acquainted with Sara. His purpose is not to restore only the house, but his relationship with her. The only problem is that Sara doesn't believe Brian has undergone any soulful renovations of his own. (Christian romance)

Sara Anderson's grandfather had died and left her his house and farm in a small Oregon town. She's shocked when she finds out Brian Farris, the cad she'd broken up with when she heard him talking about how little he thought of her to her friend, is living in the cottage on the property. What is he doing here and what was her grandfather thinking to let him stay? He had been the only man she'd ever loved, and she didn't want him reappearing in her life after he'd caused her so much pain.

Brian Farris came north to Oregon to try to locate Sara. He doesn't understand why she broke up with him, but he does know he wasn't the man he should have been when they dated. Now that he has God in his life, a lot of things have changed, but will Sara ever give him a second chance. He hopes so, but he feels he'll have to take things slowly and prove himself to her. Maybe he can talk her into letting him restore her grandfather's house for a bed and breakfast.

I had read LIGHTS AND SHADOWS, the second book in this series, and loved it. Therefore, I began this one with great anticipation. I was sorely disappointed. The plot had promise, and the characters were likeable, but similar things kept repeating over and over and over again. Sara and Brian kept being drawn to each other but doubting and hiding how they really felt. This happened so much the story became dull, monotonous, and boring. There were a few interesting moments, but not enough. At least the book was clean.

The one logistical mistake I found was when the lights went out during the storm. Brian came in with his flashlight, but when he got ready to leave and the wind blew the candle out, leaving him and Sara in the dark, nothing was mentioned about his flashlight. This book was okay, but it could have been so much more.

Restorations Oregon In Love Book 1 edition by Bonnie Blythe Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

A second chance at a love lost or test to keep him at arms length? God says to forgive so why is it so hard? This story will take you on a journey of restoring more than a house, maybe hearts as well.
This was a good read and moved at a nice pace. I liked the chemistry between the two main characters and really loved the idea of being able to renovate an old house to turn into a bed and breakfast. My only complaint would be that the hero seemed to come to the realization that basically he should court the heroine, but I didn't see any courting. There was a lack of what I would call follow through on the part of the author. We seem to run around in circles in this book and some people might be put off with the chemistry in the book if your really conservative-It was on the smoking side, but nothing distasteful. The author made a kiss sound delcious!
Sara and Brian met in college. Sara left when she found out he was unfaithful to her. She tried to put him out of her life. When she went home for her grandfather's funeral, she saw Brian there a week later and she was furious. Sara's grandfather left her a house to turn into a B&B with Brian's help. Can she let him back into her life without getting hurt again.
At first I started to like this book but after awhile I found myself skimming through the pages. There was way too much emphasis on kissing for me. And I don't believe any Christian man would flirt so much around any woman, especially "threatening" the heroine that he would have to kiss her if she didn't talk to him. What Christian man talks like that? I really wouldn't recommend this book.
Full disclosure I only read to Chapter 7. This book leaves me annoyed and frustrated. The main character is completely unbelievable and unlikable. She holds on to resentments, and seemingly hasn't matured past high school. With her supposed horrid upbringing, I can't figure out when or how she became a Christian, nor understand why a make out session has ruined her life so much, she wears anger like a favorite outfit. Instead of insisting on believing Brian is a womanizer, she needs to focus on her own spiritual health.
Sara & Brian are a couple who took their walk with God at different time & down different paths at the beginning. So, when their human choice to a scary turn in their relationship in they were caught on so many levels they took it as a booming hand of God their to punish her. Therefore, she ran instead of talking to him. Which is really the theme of this whole story lack of mature adult communication. Praying to God is wonderful but expecting a different answer then what is presented then running from it then blaming the other person is not the answer. Love is a gift. Run to it but be mature enough to know there are hurdles to get over, but so worth it. I very much enjoyed this book I just got frustrated that they would not talk about their thoughts & feelings.
It was pretty much a standard romance with an ex-boyfriend. Girl meets boy, romance, break-up over misunderstanding, fast forward years, girl meets boy again, but can she ever trust him? Can he convince her he's changed? I wanted to smack both of them upside the head and told them to TALK to each other, and lay it on the line. Be honest with each other, instead of tiptoeing and skirting around issues.

I did like how you found out why Sara had issues of trust; she'd never seen a good man/woman relationship. I liked that both of them prayed for help with their problems.

I will probably buy another book by this author; it was a quick read, and if it was nothing new, at least it was pretty good.
